"Travelling in Turkey renewed my interest in nomadic tribal carpets and made me see to what extent they are a product of their place of origin; how the colours of the region, of the soil, the flowers and even the light become woven into the carpets. As these carpets are carried back and forth in a yearly trek between the lower, warmer regions and the cooler, higher regions, they come to signify 'home.'

Similarly, we 'urban nomads' make our yearly trek to the National Parks. These paintings are inspired by colours and textures of our vast natural surroundings so as to explore and define a sense of place."
